The vast research profile of University of Kentucky's laboratories results in a large variety of various wastes and potential waste streams.

A Laboratory Waste Guidelines Poster, which includes instructions for disposal of the different types of wastes commonly generated in UK labs,  can be accessed HERE using UK Linkblue username and password.

Free, laminated 11" x 17" copies of this poster are available and can be delivered to the lab by emailing requests to labsafety@uky.edu.  Please include the Lab/PI's name and location for drop-off.

NO chemical waste, unless given prior, documented approval by UK EQMD, shall be disposed of down sanitary sink drains.
At no time shall chemicals or chemical waste be placed in unmarked containers.  All containers, whether stock or waste, must display identification and hazard information.

Different substances used in the lab may have different regulatory and disposal requirements.

Chemical waste shall be collected as hazardous waste in consultation with University of Kentucky's Environmental Quality Management Department (859) 323-6280.

For concerns regarding waste disposal or ticketing, contact EQMD at (859) 323-6280.
